How do I enable and disable audio descriptions on the SHOWTIME streaming device?

Audio description is an optional feature that provides narration tracks in addition to the audio stream, describing what is going on visually on screen. If a title supports the Audio Description feature, the title will display an ‘AD’ badge on the movie or episode title screen. If the title does not display an ‘AD’ badge on the movie or episode title screen, then the title is not supported at this time.

If you're watching on a web browser on your computer:

  1. Begin playing the title you would like to watch
  2. Click the closed captions icon
  3. Under ‘Audio’ select ‘English - Audio Descriptions’

If you're watching on a Roku Streaming Player:

  1. Begin playing the title you would like to watch
  2. Press * on your Roku remote to bring up the Options menu
  3. On the Options menu, select ‘Accessibility & captions’
  4. On the Accessibility menu, select ‘Audio track’
  5. Change the audio track to the option that includes ‘descriptive’

If you're watching on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:

  1. Begin playing the title you would like to watch
  2. Tap the closed captions icon
  3. Under ‘Audio’, select ‘English AD’

If you're watching on an Apple TV:

  1. Begin playing the title you would like to watch
  2. Tap the audio icon
  3. Under ‘Audio’, select ‘English AD’

If you’re watching on an Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S:

  1. Begin playing the title you would like to watch
  2. Press the A button to open the Media Playback bar
  3. Navigate to the Closed Captions menu on the far right
  4. In the resulting overlay menu, enable ‘Audio Descriptions’

To disable audio descriptions, follow the steps above and choose the original language in the appropriate section.

Please note that we are currently launching the Audio Description video feature on a rolling basis, so some devices may not yet have this functionality available at this time.
